Default Does a Michell record clamp work on the SL1210?

I have a couple of records that are quite badly warped and, most frustratingly, a brand new 200g copy of Rush - A Farewell To Kings that is badly dished. (It's my second copy, and many other owners have the same problem.)

It set me thinking - I believe a Michell clamp can cure the dishing on either side by use of a small felt disc under the centre label - is that correct?

Also, does the clamp work on a SL1210? I have a very thick mat (2, in fact) to get over an issue with my tonearm alignment, which means there isn't much spindle showing. How much spindle does the clamp need to grab hold of?

The clamp needs a decent length of spindle to grab.
I found that I could get the clamp to grip with the washer in place on normal pressings, but on 180g pressings the records used to pop up around the spindle (ie there isn't enough spindle available to grip and clamp on securely).
    I have a Funk Achromat for SL-1200 and it's 5mm thick.

My problem went away a couple of years ago when I fitted a Mike New bearing (the MNB spindle is noticably longer than the stock bearing's spindle).

Sorry to hear about the pressing issues with A Farewell To Kings.
Are the problems just with the recent rereleases?

    Common sense isn't anymore!

I think Michell has a version of it clamp for Regas, i.e. short spindle. This may work with the SL1200. Dished LPs are annoying, especially on a hard platter.

The KAB clamp works fine. You could easily make your own to try first by using a plastic jar top. Peanut butter or an Ovaltine lid should do the job.

Here is a link that might interest you, it explains how to make the DIY clamp I mentioned.

This has been the only problematic one so far. All the others are as perfect as vinyl (and indeed, recorded music) can get. They are simply magnificent. Words fail me. I simply cannot describe how joyous it is to listen to these old albums again, it's like re-living my youth.

The clamp works extremely well, I transfered it over from my 1210 onto my garrard 301 when I started using a Resomat on the 1210.

Thanks. Indeed I have found that there are special versions for short spindles, such as shown here:

(And by the way, isn't the Michell website terrible?)

The Michell clamp worked for me with a standard bearing, standard platter and 5mm Funk Achromat with 180 g vinyl.
As for warps: it helps a little with that soft washer in place.
