    Default Hello from Nottingham

    Hi everyone.

My name is Keith and i've been a long time lurker of this (and other) hifi forums. I've always had a desire to have a better sounding system and i've joined AoS to try and improve the quality of my equipment without trashing it any further.

    I've got a couple of low-mid level systems;

Living Room - PS3 into an Arcam movie solo, out to four Kef KHT2005 speakers, a bigger Kef centre speaker and a MJA-Pro 50 sub.

Dining Room - Vintage Sony ES set-up with PS-X65 turntable, S770ES tuner, CDP557ESD CD, K890ES tape player, E80ES Preamp and Denon POA4400A monoblocks. These run into a a pair of Castle Severn 2 floorstanders and i've also got a pair of Yamaha NS1000 waiting in the wings for when i get more space. I used to have a N77ES Amp for this lot but a toddler induced shorting of the speaker cables finished it off, which was a shame since it sounded brill.

Music wise, it's pretty much an open book for me with anything going except techno music, which i despise. Having a turntable means I've been getting more into vinyl and am fortunate to have a half decent oxfam down the road to feed my habit. I wouldn't mind getting into 'proper' digital music and some point but that is an itch that can be scratched later.

Anyways like i said before i've been looking round other forums and i decided that AoS is a pretty good place to be a member.

    Keith

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

    Hi Keith. Welcome to AOS.

You've come to the right place for advice. Our members have experience of a vast range of equipment.

If you want to discuss your system in general, as Grant suggests, start a thread and outline your ideas. The Blank canvas area is probably best.

There is also a Gallery area if you'd like to post photos and start a blog about your system.

    Enjoy the forum,
    Geoff.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

    Welcome to AoS Keith,

I think you have made the right decision!

We have several members here who are fans of the Yamaha NS1000, so you are in good company.

    Enjoy the Forum

    Regards
    Barry
