    I'm Gary.

Wink Thick stone floor - Would I benefit much from a wall shelf for my GOrbe TT?

I'll be rejigging my rack (oo-er!) to accomodate a new amp at a later date, so got thinking about a wall shelf for my turntable...
Couple of proviso's though, and wanted to see what you guys thought.

Currently the deck sits on a Stands Unique rack, with Sound Damped Steel isofeet under each foor and the motor unit.
    I've a solid stone floor.
No footfall iusues with the deck, could probably jump up and down beside it and have no effect.

Would I benefit from a wall shelf you think, given my stone floor and the effective SDS Isofeet under my deck?

The other thing is thad due to lack of wall space I'd want the deck to sit pretty much where it is just now, just on a wall shelf.
I have about 5 inches of space between the top of the turntable and the bottom of the telly. (see pic)
Obviously this is as high as it can go.

So a tight space to fit a shelf, but only if I would get a lot of benefit from it, if that makes sense?
If so would need to be a low profile shelf that could "snick" in below the telly and the top of the rack.

Seen one that might fit the bill, well thought of too?

    Appreciate any thoughts, thanks.

I think a stone floor will have more mass than a wall so would be the better resistant to vibration. So stay as you are.

Whole setup looks amazing btw. I've heard those Edingdales they are something else. Beautiful finish on them too.

Only possible advantage would be if you get any affects if you touch the table transferring to the deck. I get some with mine with a concrete floor and have conidered the same. I actually have a shelf that I could fit; its very similar to that one actually. Footfall wise I'd say little to be gained , so it would only be if you have a problem with touching the table when playing anything.

What an interesting question; with such a solid floor you ought to be immune from feedback, at even the smallest level. But with audio you never quite know. A nice solid wallshelf might still sound better, but you can only find out by erecting one. Which would be a real hassle.
So, depends how nosy you are. I'd not bother, but I'd always be wondering....

Gary, a long time ago l had a full Orbe, that sat on a Seimic Sink and sounded pretty darn good, then moved it to a wall shelf and got a dramatic increase in sound quality. ( The room/floor at the time was a nightmare!) l would say go for it.

I've been using a wall shelf for many years. Two big beefy steel brackets from Wickes building supplies and an offcut of 27mm MDF. Works a treat. No going back!
