“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

I'd shift the 'jitter busters' and the valve buffer on. Keep all the hi-fi equipment though

What's the deal with your Mitsubishi Diatone speakers? Never seen you mention them before.
    Current Lash Up:

    TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > JM Labs Focal Electra 926.

One of the jitter busters and the valve buffer are integral parts of the system and in use. They make a noticeable improvement.

The Diatone speakers are used by my daughter. They sound pretty good actually. A sort of Japanese equivalent to Wharfedale Dovedale III's, but better made.

Mitsubishi made some great stuff back in the day, shame it is so rare over here. Is the Diatone brand still going? I've seen pictures of their big speakers and they look the business. Never heard any though.

As far as I know it is. We don't see their Hi-Fi gear in the UK, so it's hard to tell.

I think they closed it down in 1999.

I liked their upmarket A&D (Akai & Diatone - Akai was also a part of Mitsubishi in 1980s and early 1990s) lineup.

I didn't know that, but apart from the odd tape or cassette deck in the seventies, I've not paid huge attention to Akai.
