Would expect it to be mains side fault.. smoother cap diode etc. Tx possible but less likely.. wiring ie cable short etc. Surprised panel mains fuse didnt go but maybe it is slightly higher rated

3w panel fuse and 3w in plug. It's been OK on those values for years.

Just listening to some valves for the first time in a few years. This is so different to my Class A SS amp.

A pair of very rare German pure Class A, EL34 monoblocks from 'Modern Classic Tubes' (don't bother Googling, you'll find next to nothing about them).

I thought it sounded SHIT! when I first tuned it on. After half an hour of warm up, things are so different!

Damn, these sound fine. Really gripping the Tannoys, some very deep tight bass here and fluid silky top and mid that tells everything.

Transparency is as good as you could ask for, the depth just goes on forever. Tannoys let you hear so deep into the acoustic it's ridiculous.

Playing 'Tales of The Inexpressible' by Shpongle by the way. Great recording and nobody else sounds like this!

No. I'll have to sort the SM-70 Pro. There's something really addictive about the sound!

I do have an SM-70 as well as the 'Pro'. Might give that a go tomorrow. It's not quite as relaxed with the Tannoys when using the TVC. I'll rig the VTL valve pre-amp up and try that with it. I recall that working well.

No mate. It'll have to wait. I've just forked out a small fortune in bills.

Yeah. It's a lovely amp. I've got the EL34 monos running at the moment, Makes a change. They're damn good too.
