Ah ok. That's not so bad then. Not easy finding genuine and honest sellers these days.

I think this might just be my perfect cartridge. Can't thank Grant enough for selling it and of course your advice to convince me to try it

Good you like it Mike. You can never be shure. I found it better on my Thorens tbh than on the JBE; but that may just be bunkum (buncolme county) and fading memory... I do like the shure though; it has something special that suits me sir

High time I resurrected this thread.

Just giving my ZYX R100 H a try again. I'd forgotten how good this MC is, not used it for a year or two. Quite startling really. Every little thing is coming through and the ambience is remarkable, plenty of solid bass too.

Running it into my spare Fidelity Resaerch FRT-3 SUT and then into the MM side of the Sugden Optima phono stage (also my backup). Damn good combo. Yes, I know the Optima has an MC input, but I'm trying out the SUT.

Likely to be flogging the MC and SUT. I have too many.

    What's going on here?

Two Connoisseur BD1 turntables. Much maligned (Hi Adam ) little unit that actually punches way above its (modest) weight.

The one on the right is mint and perfect. Everything works and has been serviced. It looks new. The left one, I've had for years and it needs a fettle (dead easy on these). The BD1 is a surprisingly good sounding turntable if set up correctly. I've had about ten of these and know what they can do.

    Here's my last one:

Sold it a few years ago. I probably built this one over twenty years or more back. I actually turned out two indentical and gave one to my mate who used it for years.

There's an old thread I started a long time ago about these: http://theartofsound.net/forum/showt...onnoisseur+BD1

For anybody interested. The BD2 is similar to the BD1, but has the unfortunate SAU2 arm fitted. This is not a good tonearm, the design is inherently flawed.

Anyway. I feel a project coming on. This is going to be a rather unusual turntable setup. I'm calling it the CBD (complete bastard deck ).

    No.

But it will raise a few eyebrows and I'm sure I'll get a bit of stick over my ideas. But I have a thick skin!

Thought I'd bung a couple of photos of the system on.

Have you moved the Tannoy's closer to the rear wall?
