Thanks, Geoff! Looks the same as the 'FX Audio Tube 01 [= '01 Tube' imported and given a logo and price rise? The tubes are the same too, 6j1s]

As it happens I was wondering about trying out a tube buffer the other day - your post reminded me so I'm following suit. I thought I'd place it after the analogue out of a Behringer UCA 202 USB audio interface [£15} and before an as yet unknown HPA or amp in an experiment in making a very cheap passable set up.

There are a number of far east sellers on ebay offering these. Prices vary. Some come with what are alleged to be UK power supplies, worth checking voltages and pins though.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

Not for anywhere near that price I don't!! Mines £150.

£18 for that Chinese one? It would be around £400 if you bought it from me. The parts would cost me (including the case and PSU) around £70-£100 as I would be using good quality, branded western parts... The rest the labour to hand build it which would take 10+ hours. I also wouldn't put a crude and hardly filtered SMPS in the middle of the board! Expect it to give nearly as much output from the SMPS @ 30KHz or more as it does signal!!
