No. They're still in exactly the position you remember Shane.

There is no "too long" to be away from Southall.

Bugger! My SM-70 Pro power amp has died. No noises, no funny smells, mains fuse is OK. Just no light on the front, no sound and cold heat sinks. Power supply I reckon. Hope it's not the transformer. I'll open it and have a look tomorrow.

No. It's a good few years old now. It can be fixed though. Being a Class A type, they are actually fairly simple. If I can't suss it myself, I'll get it sorted anyway. It's too good to bin. Might give Jez a shout if need be. I trust his abilities.

It's blowing mains plug fuses, so something is shorting. The 3 amp fuse in the amp is OK. I've had a look inside, can't see anything untoward or smell anything burnt. I shall have a ponder.

Looks like the valve monos will be going back into the system for the moment.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Looks like that's under the main circuit board. I'll have to unbolt the power transformer to release the base plate and see. May have a bash later, if I'm feeling brave.
