Anyone know if Elvis Costello's "Brutal Youth" and "North" came out on vinyl? they were issued during my lost years in cd land.
Also looking for "Mirror Blue" by Richard Thompson (for less than a ton!)

I'm ChrisB.
I don't think there was a vinyl pressing of 'Brutal Youth'.
Don't know anything about the other one though, sorry.

This is a real challenge. I have been looking for a stereo copy of this for 3 years now. Why would anyone be looking for a piece of crap like that? Because it is a great record and probably the finest piece of stereo recording I have ever heard - fabulous.
I have heard it 3 times in the SME Music Room. Just to put it into perspective how good it is, Cameron Robertson-Aikman always uses as the final piece he plays in his demos in the music room.
IIt was also one of Ken Kesslers "Records to Die For" in Stereophile in 1991
What do I know about it?
It was recorded in stereo by Columbia in 1961. It was released in Mono by Columbia. I have checked with Abbey Road and I know that it was mastered for release in stereo but not whether it was actually released. In those days records were often release in mono and if they sold well a stereo release may have followed. (mono records generally outsold stereo by 10:1)
The copy I heard was not an EMI copy but a re-issue on C5 Records - a division of See for Miles Records (EMI confirmed that the tapes were accessed in 1989 for this release)
I would like to obtain a stereo copy and i am happy to pay a good price. Any stereo copy in good nick. Over to you guys. Can anyone help?
David
