For finish quality, UV bonding is the way to go for joints.
Went over to this at work for glass display cases, should be as good with plastics. Massive improvement in quality.

Bit specialised though, if turning over enough units a good investment to look into getting the kit in.
Cheaper in long run than subbing it out I reckon.

Just noticed you use UV binding Paul.
Absolutely the best quality finish for joints you can get, totally invisible.

Absolutely Gary which is why I use it. One of the limitations though is that it depends (as you'd be aware) on decent light transmittance to bond properly which means that tints have to be post-applied using film to internal surfaces a la car window tinting. I have tried out smoked acrylic in 5mm with the UV process but it wont pass enough light to bond properly. Clear Acrylic done this way is as you say often used for pro-display casework, including that for museums and the like.

Great looking lids Paul. I want one! The only problem is I currently don't have a turntable, do you do them for CD players?

I can do them for anything you want Will

Worth mentioning for the style conscious that I can also make up acrylic turntable support plinths (adding isolation feet in sorbothane) or even complete hifi racks to custom order!
