Square Dinner Plates

Lol... Who remembers 'Chicken in a basket', from the 70s? Every pub then offered it - and it was a REAL basket, too.... No idea how they cleaned those!

As for square plates, I wouldn't use them for 'everyday eating' (and agree with the points being made), but we have a few that we use for dinner parties, when we're entertaining, as you can do some nice presentation effects on them

Yes, I was served a meal on one not long ago. Some West Country yacht club restaurant with 'posh' ideas if I recall. I didn't like it, nor did I like the way the cutlery scraped across the unglazed surface. Blackboards and chalk spring to mind. It's just fadist fashion, not common sense.

One of my colleagues took a picture of it...which is another odd thing: taking pictures of food in restaurants. I've been in a few posh nosheries recently and everyone seems to be at it. What's that all about?
