Perhaps try a Sugden A21a. Far cleaner (window) sound than the Kraken!

    Default Slight Update.

I've only just acquired a pair of Usher S-520 Speakers in wood veneer. Without their grills, they present a distinctive appearance with those transparent drivers.

They remind some people of the ProAc Response 1SC. I wouldn't be surprised if the Ushers sounds similar!

I'm also awaiting for a Sugden A21a integrated. This is now going to be my 3rd A21a! Great little amp. I always find them rather clear sounding. Not the stereotypical warm and lush sound that some perceive it as.

I had a feeling you'd end up with a pair of these Shane. Great little speakers. Have you got a photo?

The Sugden should sound lovely driving them (as long as the front end is smooth and clean).
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

    Geoff,

I see you follow the ''source comes first'' philosophy. This is very prominent with the Naim followers.

What stand alone CD Player would you recommend for the Usher/Class A combo?

I have had the S520s for many years. I found them to be very good with Naim Nait 5i and also with my Nait 2.
Naim amps tend to make the ushers less sweet and a bit more raw and lively which suits my taste.
Very well built and exceptional speakers for the money

Are the Gloss Black Piano ones better made?

These Ushers must be transparent, if the character changes with different amps!
