    Default My System Blog

My Sugden A21a is away on loan to a friend.

I'm expecting an Exposure X Integrated amplifier, which is currently on its way. If all goes well with the Exposure. I will take some pics and upload them here on this blog.

As some of you will already know. The X comes from an era when John Farlowe was working at Exposure in Portslade, West Sussex. Anyway, we're talking well over 20 years ago now.

IMO the X is a stunning little thing, and I've owned 2 in the past. If you favour a musical, direct, punchy sound. This amp will tick those boxes! Its never too analytical and just carry on with the music!

    Will keep blog posted!

    Default Exposure X

The X arrived OK here this morning.

Will give it a decent listening session tomorrow evening.

    Will keep blog posted.

I reckon you'll be asking for the A21a back Shane.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

The Exposure & Sugden are just simply different, Geoff.

The A21a is a very respectful amp. I will only sell it to buy the IA-4!

Very neat Shane. Are you not using speakers at the moment?

    Default Sugden A21a Series 2

The Series 2 sounds similar like its predecessor. With this version you get more cleanliness and weight.

The bass is perhaps a bit more controlled too.

This amp defiantly does show up a bad recording!

Like all Sugden Class A amps...It runs hot!!

Without a doubt, a very good amp with a neutral (lack of character) sound!

    Default Sugden CD21 Series 2

My recently purchased Sugden CD21 Series 2 arrived to me this morning.

Below is just some of my views on the aesthetics quality...

The feel and build quality of this CD21 Series 2 is a tad on the weedy side...It just doesn't feel very substantial IMO. But Its put together pretty well though.

I guess some could perhaps label this CD Player as having ''average'' or ''basic'' build quality. Which I can understand. But I sincerely do hope the quality of the components inside are of decent high quality. The transport mechanism is most likely of hair shirt side of quality!

To buy this CD Player brand new from a dealer, will cost you almost £1,600!....Hmmm interesting!

Visual wise, this is actually a pretty handsome looking CD Player. Elegant appearance and fairly easy on the eyes. The blue display is pretty cool and doesn't glare at you!

Will be having a good listen shortly!
