Default VTA adjustment for Jelco Tonearms

    Just been alerted to this

Have not considered it in depth but the idea seems good if you are into changing headshells or mats.

That video nicely illustrates the 'rocking' problem with the standard Jelco collar and why I re-designed it, culminating in my current Mk2 collar! Maybe I should do a YouTube video too?

I welcome competition, but this solution looks to be unnecessarily complicated to allow easy VTA adjustment that my collar makes similarly straightforward and accurate. Expensive, too, which might explain why most of my customers nowadays seem to be in the States

A big ‘YES’ to that! Nothing sells a product better than a simple and effective visual demonstration of its benefits. You know what they say: ‘a picture [in this case a video] is worth a thousand words’….

Just do it, mate - and post the results here on your trade thread, as well as adding them to your website. If you do it right, I guarantee it will increase sales!

Now that I have had another look at the video it appears they are not really doing any more. At 2:00 mins into the video it looks like you have to raise / lower the column by hand. All their screw does is make for a finger-grip. Initially I thought that rotating that grip raised or lowered the column. TBH I think using a hex key is a little easier. In fact I doubt a tecchie could fit that arrangement because of the low positioned armboard.

Still is would be nice if there was a dial to twiddle to adjust the VTA on the Jelco750.

Hugo, I think Marco's suggestion is worth a go. I sometimes 'wander' through some YouTube Hi-Fi clips and check out the weird & wonderful, but also the useful. It can't do any harm.
