Default Interesting Tonearm project - Arm tube fabrication

I was recently asked to fabricate a tonearm tube to replace one that was damaged during modification to a different headshell socket.

Working from a tech drawing of the arm and the old arm tube

I fabricated a new tube - turned to fit the arm holder and internal mounting bush.
Arm tube bent and end drilled and cut for head shell socket.

The finished article was then spray painted to match the original - socket re-wired with copper litz tonearm wire

Fun project that has kept Serge's AEG Telefunken TRS9000 record deck going.

Thanks guys - It was a fun project.
The deck in question is a real beast, 10 inch arm.

Heavyweight engineering! Nice to keep it looking original and using the armbase / bearings etc.

That’s a wonderful looking deck – reminiscent of the EMT 950, but with a longer, and possibly better, arm. What is the cartridge?

It's Serge's deck - He has an EMT as well. Say's they are on a par sound wise. The arm is OEM AEG as far as I know (well apart from the tube etc, wot I made ).

Steve, don't flame me please, but when you have time, could you investigate making a arm assembly for a Lenco L75 arm? The counterweight and possibly the V bearing rod could still be used, but obviously the headshell would need totally re-thinking a la Syrinx PU2 perhaps? I only ask because the cue, bias and arm bearing assembly seems fine for the job, the V Blocks can be updated by 'Dezmo' and it's only the arm tube, springy counterweight rod and headshell that people don't like..

Sorry if I'm wasting your time.
