    I'm jamie.

Default your thoughts on new plinth.

just sitting here mulling over a few ideas in my head.
im thinking of making a new plinth for my AR. Being a cabinet maker by trade the obvious choice would be a plywood laminated construction to get the height and then rebating out the underneath for all the various parts.
my second idea, having just over the last year changed career paths (im now a steel fabricator!) is to use box section and fill all 4 sides with sand before capping off the ends.

what would make the better plinth?
i must confess im not totally clued up on this whole resonance and what is good or bad but im kinda learning so all your thoughts are much appreciated.

Not too sure old pal but I would've thought that ply was more acoustically dead than any kind of metal/steel fabrication. Plus the fact, ply looks fantastic side on when oiled just like the one sold at Divine Audio.

yeah good point about the ply although as an ex cabinet maker my thoughts are that its just carcassing material and should never be seen.
