    I'm Martin.

    Default Antigua & Barbuda

A couple of snaps from my recent hols.

First the obligatory 'view from the hotel balcony':

Eric Clapton's House (you have to zoom in to the end of that peninsula to see it. I don't think he was home, musn't have realised I was coming...

Can't remember if this was a runined fort or a ruined platation. Ruined, anyway:

    Hotel beach:

    And again

Got the 'ferry' to Barbuda which is a small coral island about 40 miles north of Antigua. Like spending 2 hours on a mechanical bull, i would not recommend this trip if you get seasick:

Frigate bird sanctuary on Barbuda. They breed here and on the Galapagos islands, apparantly:

Deserted beach on Barbuda. They used to wrek ships here in the good old days:

'having it large' on the beach on Barbuda:

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

You didn't even get them out yourself Martin by the look of it, don't you like the sun?

Looks like a nice place to visit, I take it you enjoyed the break.

I love Hendrix for so many reasons. He was so much more than just a blues guitarist - he played damn well any kind of guitar he wanted. In fact I'm not sure if he even played the guitar - he played music. - Stevie Ray Vaughan

Brilliant Martin! Make sure you do some snorkeling. Oh, and by the way, don't start any cable discussions with the locals.

yeah - packed 'em but never wore 'em

Seriously though the sun is merciless out there especially in the middle of the day. I burn in minutes if I'm exposed, even with loads of factor 30 P20 slapped on. Hence the cap and the tracky bottoms
