Totally, I can't believe the amount of stuff I got through last year.

Bought a Quad 306 on a complete spur of the moment from the classifieds for £100 delivered then the same night a completely refurbed and re-capped 34 pre turned up on PFM and I bought it straight away, cost me £250 delivered and it is going nowhere.

The Quads are brilliant with the Harbeths. I listen for hours at a time and never get tired.

Not according to me, but according to my wife, 6 amplifiers, 4 pairs of speakers, a few TTs, ditto CDPs, a cupboard full of valves and spares, countless other bits and bobs somehow constitutes a problem?
I've looked really hard, but can't find any problem problem

Yes, I have had IT and lost it in the fruitless search for that something elusive, and now have IT back again, but that little b*&tard in your head still chips away.........

Well, we have yet to instal a system in the bathroom or the loft so we haven't got too many really. The five rooms that do have working systems in need spares just in case so I don't think it's a problem, just making sure

    Oh how I wish.
back in the mid 80s to about 10 years ago, secondhand hifi shops were to be found all over my erm...characterful city of NOTTINGHAM.
indeed, certain roads..alfreton...radford...Mansfield were almost crowded out with them.

I can still remember the almost electic thrill of walking in the door to be assailed by the smell of "out of date" silver kit gently idling!!!

the joy of spotting a rare and underpriced gem....and grabbing it....will never leave me.

    none left now.

    NIGE.

Personally , I haven't been back into hi fi for that long , but I find myself getting drawn into the habit of spending a long time looking at TT's and Amp's on Fleabag!
I bought some Mission 752 F's a while back to go with my Hitachi made stack ,and after adding a PL-A35 Pioneer TT felt good about my old system -it does what I am happy with !
However in the process of doing that , I have managed to gather some 'less desirable' items , a Ferguson TT that I just look the like of and recently a HMV 8000 stack system , complete but without the speakers , for £60. Its on the other side of the country at a mates house till I find time to fetch it!
I think my forte is in the tat end of hi fi !

I was thinking it might just be me ? (I had a similar thing about binoculars a few yrs ago , I must get rid of some )
    Obviously its not
I only ride 'em, I don't know what makes 'em work
