Did these Miracord decks find their way to the UK, or will you have to import one and faff around with motor pulleys and such.. Just get a Dual 1019 instead, or a 1229 with M91-ED (lovely )
Tear down these walls; Cut the ties that held me

I don't know Dave. I was flitting around the 'net looking at stuff about ADC cartridges and found a thread to the picture and was surprised to learn that the deck was made by Elac and dated back to the '60s. I didn't know Elac was so old, predating Shure I think with making cartridges. I've only known the name from speakers in the '80s. There's various models but I love the black and chrome finish of that particular model. It was made for Radioshack in the US.

Ah, memory lane! My first cassette deck was the model below that - the RS-263US.

It made superb recordings and sounded great, but it was only when I got rid of it that I realised the azimuth must have been off and it was running fast, as all recordings I have left that I made on it are slow and muffled sounding now!

    Yeah. . . Life's a bugger at times. Isn't it Adam!

Can't remember if my first real deck was an Akai CS-34D or an ITT, which was nicely made and had a nice front panel and meters. The Akai arrived with the flywheel knocking. The capstan was replaced which cured the knock, but I could never get fast forward or reverse to work properly. Was never happy with cassette sound until I got a Technics RS B605 in the '80s. Recordings had grip, if sounding a tad proccessed.

After a good check up & clean this baby just requires Belts & Motor run capacitors replacing, o & the Brake adjusting, but still works as is...It'll get a full fettle when the bits arrive.. One or two very faint marks on the silver pannel but nothing that will drive me too nutty

    Uher 'Variocord 263' R+R

Quad 57 - I've never seen them mounted like this before!

I'm not sure about all that reflective glass behind but a very interesting idea.
