Spurred on by the quality of replies to my camera query, here's a related one.
The vast majority of my film work was on slides. I have gazillions of them, unviewed for years. Whilst mounting slide shows, complete with projector and screen, would be an amusingly retro entertainment to provide for my friends, I'd like to transfer some of the slides to digital.
How should I proceed?
Ditto to everything above from me - I'd also be very interested in advice/guidance/recommendations - I've been taking photos for over 50 years and digitising them, or some of them, is on my list of things to do sometime - please spur me into action so that I don't make too many expensive mistakes,

Amps etc.: 2 x Mini-T amps, MF-X10D Valve buffer clone, StanDAC 7520/Caiman (mod'd).
Speakers: Mission 774s with added super tweeters
Cables: best I can afford and likely to change except Homar's RF attenuated co-ax's and Mark Grant USB and HDMI cables. I also like silver i/cs and speaker cable.
