    Default Wet weather trainers.

    Hi All,

Anybody have any experience of a pair of trainers that have pretty good grip in the wet? I'm looking to use them purely for walking around town, so pavement/street use rather than mud/grass. So far I have been recommended a pair at £140 (way over budget) and a pair of North face at £85, this is about what I am prepared to pay but googling doesn't bring back anything that makes me think they are any better in the wet than the Adidas ones I wear now that slip and slide, I have tried Merrell and Karrimor but they were both pretty useless too. The assistant in the shop I went into said buy a pair with Vibram soles (like the North face) but again, googling seems to suggest Vibram soles are no guarantee of grip.

So, with no idea really of what to buy, I am hoping some of the fine members of this forum may have a pair they have good experience with.

    cheers

    Rich.

I have some McKinley walking boots with Vibram soles, a +1 for Vibram from me.

I love Hendrix for so many reasons. He was so much more than just a blues guitarist - he played damn well any kind of guitar he wanted. In fact I'm not sure if he even played the guitar - he played music. - Stevie Ray Vaughan

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

Ah ok, really? That's useful to hear. I wonder if I am really going to know till I buy a pair and try them, bit late then though.

That sounds like sensible advice, thanks, trouble is I wear shorts all year round so I never wear boots, it's pretty much got to be trainers/walking shoes.
