Three black and whites taken today, 21st June 2018 at Cleethorpes beach in Lincolnshire. All part of a program of continuous improvement on my part. Truly sorry for the purists I have left behind but I am now entirely digital (photography and audio).

The location for these images was 'Brighton Slipway' in the town.

Good shots Shaun. You have a lot of contrast, were you using an optical filter?

    Lovely work Shaun.

Is your digital camera a monochrome only camera?

So sorry for taking so long to log in again and read your responses. To answer the questions by Geoff and Barry; No Geoff, I was not using an optical filter, I use a very old version of Adobe Photoshop which is CS2 running on a dedicated PC with Windows XP and running a Photoshop plugin called Silver Efex Pro. I do also use Colour Efex Pro but obviously not in this case. This software has plugin digital 'filters' including red, orange, yellow and green. It also has numerous other monochrome effects some of which are stunning, some of which are dire.

Barry, the camera is a Nikon FX type so full frame but is not monochrome only. I only ever shoot in colour and then desaturate in Photoshop. Doing it this way I get full 24 bit colour and the extended shading that goes with that technique. I then use Silver Efex Pro which by the way, will only work on RGB files. It will not process grey scale images. The results are as you see. I also use a 14mm f2.8 lens for the ultra wide effect which adds so much 'space' to the shots.

All the best guys, have a fab weekend.

I like the way the pattern of the tyre marks in the sand tend to reflect the shape of the clouds above (especially in the first and third photo). Also like the way the tyre marks lead you into the photo and towards the posts in the centre.

    Great composition.
