Ah yes. A man on my wavelength!

By the way. it's been mayhem here for hours. Indoors with the telly turned up and the racket still intrudes badly. Bastards!

The dog likes it though, daft bugger. Keeps begging to go in the garden to look and listen to it all. Trots up and down and bounces about with his tail in the air when there's a big bang. He definitely enjoys it. (he's a rescued, re-homed pooch who's history I don't know. But I've a feeling he could be used to gunfire, maybe)
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

Have you tried Zylkene? We have just started to dose up our 4-year-old Samoyed bitch and it does appear to help. It works on cats too by all accounts.
We also use a DAP diffuser. DAP stands for Dog Appeasing Pheremone and it's supposed to mimic the pheromones given off by lactating bitches which calms puppies.
There is, I believe ,an equivalent for cats. Also have a look at http://www.vetuk.co.uk or http://www.dorwest.co.uk

On Dorwest's home page, they have Firework Combi packs which may be worth a look.

Turn it around on the little bastards. I did that a few years ago. They came to the door and said 'Trick or treat?' So I yelled 'TRICK' and drenched them with water from a plant sprayer set to fire a jet of water!

Did you have any windows left at the end of the night Mark
Seriously though all they seem to want these days is money . If you give them fruit they either throw it away , throw it at peoples windows or at buses and cars up this way . I used to be a bus driver and at this time of year we were pelted with fruit , fireworks and snowballs . Not necessarily in that order The little darlings put a bottle sideways , put the rocket inside , lit the fuse , and pointed it towards the bus. One of my colleagues had his eyes damaged by a laser pen and had to retire through ill health
    Regards

No problems. They were too shocked and anyway I think they were shit scared of me...
Another lot that came around were given a treat - I told them to close their eyes and then popped raw chillis in their mouths and told them to chew
All good, harmless fun...Can you still get laxative chocolate?

I know here I'd put a bottle sideways...The laser pen is well beyond the pale. I hope the oiks were caught and punished (but I doubt it).

Truth is always new, totally unknown, and unknowable. The mind must come to it without any demand, without any knowledge, without any wish; it must be empty, completely naked. Then only truth may happen. But you cannot invite it.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”
