Default They're at it again! Bloody fireworks!!

It's that time of year again. Every night for about a week now we've had loud firework bangs through the evenings. This will carry on and get worse until the end of the first week of November, then it tails off. It's a real nuisance and for a few days at the beginning of next month it will be unbearable!!

It will be a right royal pain in the arse until the new year around here. I hate the bloody things with a passion.
Apart from the noise nuisance, I have seen first-hand the damage they can do to people when things go wrong, I just wish they'd ban them.
Unfortunately, one of our dogs gets really stressed by them, so we've got the DAP diffusers on in three rooms.

Given your location Geoff I assume the Diwali celebrations must be quite something and then followed by the traditional burning of an effigy of Synsei with the associated pyrotechnics lighting the night sky and producing crescendo's of cannon shots.

Time to put on the 1812 Overture

Absolutely out of control every year. I thought the sale of deafeningly loud fireworks was banned, but it seems that around here the main object is to make as many huge bangs as you can for as long as you can!!

Fireworks being used in the street and on every street. Totally illegal, I wish the coppers would go in with the dogs and sort it all out once and for all.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Yup , I would ban the sale of fireworks to the public . Why on earth do we allow the sale of explosives every year . These things are dangerous and getting more powerful every year .

There's somebody who lives near me who I refer to as the 'Firework Nutter' who must spend hundreds and hundreds of pounds each year on the damn things. It usually starts in late October and goes on regularly until the end of November. Also at Christmas and the New Year festivities. Some of his sessions would rival a small professional display and at times there are loud bangs quite late in the evening.

When we lived in Manchester a local car thief tried to terrorise us (long story), and at one point an "industrial" firework, probably an illegal Chinese one, was put into our camper van. Blew all the windows across the neighbour's garden, punched a big crater in the van floor, and completely wrote it off. Actually we made a profit on the insurance, quite legitimately before you ask, but the effect on my wife was devastating; partly why we now live in Devon. The police were useless, but totalling his house and car by several big blokes with iron bars put a stop to it eventually.
So I would definitely like a bit more policing of street fireworks

Sorry about that I don't know what happened there...should be back to original
