“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

My mods have been a lot less extreme, but never having compared my deck to anybody else's it's difficult to say what the differences are.
One thing I am puzzled by is that once you have a decent PSU, and the motor turns accurately, what difference does a top end PSU make if the control circuit is left standard?

I'm not sure I fully understand your question, but the word 'accurately' is the key. Once you have a top motor - SP10 and hopefully SP1200 - then the goal is to ensure it spins at a constant rate. By and large the better the power supply the more accurate and constant that will be. I guess like anything else there are diminishing returns.

Well all the Mike New mods prices are available on his website
The prices for the work done my SME V is available from J7 @ audio origami & SME websites
The prices for Paul Hynes stuff is available directly from him.

    etc etc

In other words just do a little digging you'll get there. Now with regards which order, well I cant answer that as I actually bought them all at the same time so I guess I spoiled things for myself

A decent PSU is great but the internal regs make ALL the difference.

Could you elaborate on that Andy. Also am I right in believing that the internal regs are only possible with a Paul Hynes psu ?

The Longdog Audiophile power supply for the 1200 /1210 comes in two boxes. One is the external power supply and the other smaller box is the regulator. I don't fully understand the electronics but I believe voltage regulation to be very important. In the Longdog power supply the regulator can be fitted internally or externally. I fitted mine internally in the space where the old power supply sat. I used plastic tie-wires to hold it in place. The supplier MCRU provides a pdf on how to install it.
