Default Bargain if you could the parts.

I would have these in an instant if I knew you could get the parts, anyone know if you can?

ESS AMT1 Tower speakers. Using Heil Air Motion Transformer pleated ribbon tweeters. Very nice. I've heard these transmission line speakers, The sound is amazing. A very reasonable £499, in south London.

It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

You might struggle to get replacement drivers, but may be possible to salvage the existing ones. Worth a go for 99p, I doubt they will fetch more. JVC brand is very under-rated in general.
    Current Lash Up:

    TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > JM Labs Focal Electra 926.

They're worth that just for the cabinets. That metal ring around the tweeter should make replacing the tweeters fairly easy for anyone with a router and a drill press. You could alter it for a lot of different ones. I bet the woofers sound really clean in a sealed box assuming the voice coils aren't cooked.

Do you know if the cabinets are real wood, veneer or vinyl?

I think they're veneer. All of the JVC ones I've seen from that period are. Probably particle board underneath.

It looks like veneered chipboard , judging by the corner off the back of the one ,but I see they have gone now

I would say yes if you need the stuff. Those turntables can be pretty sketchy, and the CD player isn't the best. Neither one is really worth repairing if they die.
