I have a pair of Sterling LS3/5a's that would probably outperform the 'old' Rogers but I would expect about half that price for them..

Yeah. It's nuts. In material and manufacture terms LS3/5a speakers are worth maybe £300 to £400. It's not as if anybody had to do much in the way of product development after the Beeb licenced the design. I know they can sound very nice on the right system and playing the right music, but you ain't gonna get the best out yer Led Zep through them.Crazy, just crazy.... They sold for £2,200

It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

After owning many pairs of speakers over many years I would still say the LS3/5a's are a superb sounding speaker... the reason I have not been too keen to part with my Sterling's is that I believe they do have a certain magic if used with the right equipment, and listened to in the near'ish field..
I think they really do possess a certain something special if used correctly...
