Crazy people out there. A pair of early seventies KEF Cresta speakers selling at £255! Why?

They are nasty sounding little things, the crude crossover does them no favours and they don't even have matching bass drivers.

It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

They look horribly cheap to me. I'm not into foo but it always seems wise to make joins and solid as possible. (This was about the plugs and sockets of course)

He mentioned the magic formula - LS35A - 101s might almost have been worth it but Crestas???? One rather pleased seller I suspect.

Because a lot of people need the fitting to be of the original items. For example if you even mentioned replacing the original Carbon resistors in say a Leak 'TL12.1' for a modern alternative you would have every chance of being sent to hell by an hardcore collector.

I could certainly use some smaller old style banana plugs of around 3mm diameter. Regular 4mm are too big for one application I have in mind.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Yeah, I get that, dude, which is why I wrote what I did in the last part of my post. I totally get the originality thing

However, the ebay sale Andy linked to is just a jumble of 'old bits', not specific to any vintage amp, which is why I said, what's the point?

Because the Belling Lee silver plated speaker plugs are actually very good and I doubt that there are any modern speaker plugs that are significantly better

I see...Silver-plated what, though - brass or copper? Anyway, I'll take your word for it that they're good!
