This is really not fair so one is not allowed to like a pair of speakers without getting this anymore i think an apology is in order Geoff is a well respected member here and knows a lot and is a valued member downgrading own for simply voicing and opinion is rude...

Geoff's recommendations have been pivotal in getting my system to the point it's at today. Not only that, but he's a thoroughly nice guy and been nothing but a gentleman since I've been on this forum.

I sincerely hope this was tongue in cheek and the context has been lost in the text.

When they were first released I wanted a pair of Ditton 15's, but price was out of my league. Many decades later, I bought a second hand pair and I must confess, I was disappointed, slightly boomy bass, a muddled midrange and possibly needing a supertweeter. I acquired several other pairs, all were similar. However, they do produce a reasonable sound from just a few watts, so probably providing a good match for a budget system. I am talking about the original 15 that uses the Celestion HF1300. I have no experience of the later model that I believe uses a soft dome tweeter.

Not to worry. We each have our opinions.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

A mainly digital setup with a musical amplifier and endearing 1970's speakers. A CD player that hardly ever gets used and a turntable that is good enough to remind my how enjoyable my old vinyl is. Some cables and things.

The Mordant Short Pagents were a much later design (the '80s) than the the Ditton 15s (the late '60s). When I was staring out, I considered buying a pair of Ditton 15s, but couldn't really afford them, so I built a pair of similar sized speakers following a Wharfedale design using the Wharfedale RS8/DD chassis.

    Changing the subject,

I’ve been watching this preamp for a year I guess? A very long time, he hasn’t budged on the price in all that time, but I’m sure a decent offer might seal the deal? It’s a nice looking unit with all the tubes, remote and factory boxes. Why has it not sold? Should I avoid it? Or should I make the offer for around $1250? Anyone have any experience with this model?

    Russell
