As the weathers turned wet i fancy the song "oh for the love of sunshine". So, on goes

Oh my god! There's nothing wrong with the bidet is there?

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Really unusual and strangely haunting, I like Alison Goldfrapp's work very much

Just had a wander round the park with the wife and dog followed by a nice pint and a light lunch. Am now back home with the plan being to relax with some tunes and more beers

First up on the TT is bowie's latest Black star followed by Kendrick Lamars to pimp a butterfly I think. From there who knows

Valerie June - Pushin' Against A Stone (LP, Sunday Best 2013)
Started spinning the US pressing of this but very quickly lost interest due to a really bland pressing, lacking in sparkle, air and dynamics.
Switched to my european pressing and everything was transformed...
The audio is soooo much better! I haven't heard the difference nearly as obvious before...
Oh, due to a cock up from local record store i have one european and one US pressing. They are visually different concerning the tracks and weight to, the european some 20-30gr heavier.

x5 LP set repressed by !k7 and remastered by Bernie Grundman.
2 tracks per side it sounds very dynamic, more involving than the CD I had in the 90s.

The Mars Volta - The Bedlam in Goliath (FLAC 16/44.1, 2007)
An enjoyable listen, can be very punishing if the mood or equipment is not in phase!
