Frank Sinatra's first album for Capitol - Songs for Young Lovers. Arrived today - unexpectedly early - I'm amazed the ability to produce 10" records still exists, especially as the format was essentially dead not long after it got going. And this is one of the nicest bits of new vinyl I've heard recently. I love the reproduction inner sleeve (although elsewhere I've seen people moan about it being made of card, in the modern fashion).

Yup. Ive got a lot of Sinatra stuff myself; in fact Ive more of him than any other artist I'd reckon including 2 boxsets (vinyl) and original Sands recording. Such a pro and worked with the best around.

On CD I'd say my Ella collection outstrips Frank, and I have a lot of Stan Getz too -- but picking up The Capitol Years box set and a number of the Universal Music reissues of both Capitol and Reprise stuff means Frank is really well represented for me on vinyl. I need to hunt down Swing Easy which has also been issued on 10 inch.

For tonight though, it's Stacey Kent to wind down. This, accompanied mostly by Riberto Meneschal on guitar with solos from Jim Tomlinson (and very discreet support on bass) reminds me of the great intimate albums from the 50s/60s from people like Ella, Julie London and Sarah Vaughan.
