Maybe not their best album, but worthy nonetheless. Slightly left in the shade by the previous release, Discipline, which was astonishing, Adrian Belew's voice was perfect for this. Both were quite a departure in style from earlier stuff. The later album Thrak was a serious return to form though. 7/10 from me.

Just found this on the DGMLive website about the recording of Beat, the difficult second album for this KC incarnation.

David, your avatar actually looks like Adrian Belew. Is that a concidence?

LOL! Purely a coincidence. It's actually an old picture of me manipulated using a photocopier!

This one did not hit a home run with me. Some of the lyrics were good and the music was OK in spots, but nothing that got me involved in the music. 5 out of 10

Well this is very early 80's sounding, its funny how as much as artists try to be themselves what is going on around them influences them, or maybe its intentional for sales, I don't know.

I don't like it btw but then 95% of the stuff from this time didn't grab me, I'll give it 4.
