    Hi,

Did you try another to connect the source to another line in? Tuner, for instance?
Also, why does the right speaker play when you turn the balance button to the left side? Did you check speaker connections?

Hi, Yes - I've switched the speaker cables around both ways, but still the right side always goes quiet.. I've also tried connecting it to phono and aux , but the sound is still down on 1 side..

About the light that's not working:
There are several people who I've used to source bulbs for vintage receivers and one of them may have what you need if you can find out what it is. Service manual required, I think!

German Ebay seller ch5oh is yer man, I reckon. He may well know what you need - I've had a lot of lamps from him in the past and he's helpful

Alternatively, in the US - you could try Vintage Electronics

The first thought in my mind on reading the title of this thread was "are there two fuses inside (one per channel) and is one blown?".
Not been inside one of these but that used to be a common thing on some older gear.

Is the volume knob a 2 stage one ? I have a old Sony that has a inner and outer 2 piece unit
I can hold the inner piece and rotate the outer piece of the knob
    Just a thought

If not you need someone electrically minded to look see inside
