    Default Hello from Norway

    Hi all!

I have been enjoying reading the threads here at TAOS for quite a while, and I think it would be only proper to say hello and introduce myself. My name is Dag and I live in a small town a few miles north of Oslo, Norway.

Music and hifi has been one of my main interrests since my dad bought a stereo turntable from Garrard with an "active speaker" in the lid (only mono until you bought a second matching speaker) around 1970.

My present stereo system consists of the following components:
Turntable: Thorens TD 320 modified with an Audioquest tonearm, Lyra Lydian B pickup
    Amplifier: T+A PA1530R
    Speakers: T+A TCI2E
    CD player: None!
    Music streaming: Slimdevices Squeezebox SB3
    Cables: Supra
I was also the happy owner of a terriffic CD/SACD player from T+A (SACD 1250 R) until a friend of mine came visiting and brought with him an external DAC, (a modified Lite DAC-60). After many hours of extended A/B testing together with several unbiased persons, I came to the conclusion that it was virtually no audible differences between the SACD player and the SB3/Lite DAC combo playing FLAC or WAV files streamed from the computer.
So I sold the SACD player and started looking for a versatile DAC, and ended up with a Beresford TC 7520 modified with new OPAMPs. The stock Beresford was nearly as good as the Lite DAC, but for considerably less money. I have so far not had the opportunity to compare the two after modifying the 7520, but I have a feeling that the 7520 now has the upper hand.

I wish to thank you for a great forum, and thanks to everybody who has been contributing to the highly interresing "Mod your Beresford 7520" Thread.

    Regards,
    Dag

    Hi Dag,

It seems like you know us quite well already, but I'm glad you've come out from the shadows now and decided to take part in the madness

Enjoy, and if you've got some pictures to post of your system in the gallery then that would be great!

    Have fun.

    Marco.
