    Football + EL34 = short tx

Mullard and Brimar doing their wonderful work. This amp really was a bargain buy and to be recommended.

I think I have arrived at my ideal combination. ES, tubes and big Leaks.
So close to the finish here now.

I'm still a massive Philips fanboy but I have been won over by the way of ES.

The fact that this one was an absolute steal adds to the pleasure of course.

The ingredients are correct it's just the quantities that need tweaking.

An opportunity to swap the YaQin for a single ended EL34 box of similar Chinese origins was too good to pass up and has worked out well. Open, warm, detailed and all the other words. It has had a few tweaks, a decent stepped attenuator and the guts of a Cambridge Audio phono stage along with a few caps among them.

Had to have a peak in the Sony, excuse the porn.

The box swapping has at least slowed down. An experiment using the power amp section of the pictured Yamaha AX-592 and the variable output from the Sony resulted in the Yamaha staying.
