Goodness! Stepenwolf's 'Magic Carpet Ride' - I'd forgotten about them. Used to have an LP by them.

Can't find it now, so probably gave it away. Think I recorded 'Magic Carpet Ride', 'Born to be Wild' and 'The Dealer' onto cassette.

I always used to like 'The Pusher'.
A couple of years ago I discovered the version by the guy who wrote it - Hoyt Axton:

Yes of course: 'The Pusher' - what did I say: 'The Dealer'? Obviously too much consumption in my youth of such 'dealt' substances!

    Default Ghosts in the Machine?

    Chris,
Your 'YouTube' clip froze at 1:55, just as the poster of the naked girl was coming into view. Clearly my PC was doing a bit of a 'double take'!

Here's where mine came from - Captain Beaky.

My Surname is Batt, and this was around when I was serving in Germany with the army. Just progression I guess and it stuck.

The bravest animals in the land are Captain Beaky and his band
That's Timid Toad, Reckless Rat, Artful Owl and Batty Bat
They march through the woodlands singing songs
that tell how they have righted wrongs.
    Steve.

    Kit I have:
CD player, TTs, Phono stages, Pre amps, Power amps, Integrated amps, DACs, Streamers, Speakers and a bunch of cables.

    Default Mine's Visoflex

A device for converting a Leica rangefinder camera to a (not very good) single lens reflex.

I chose it because it was suitably obscure.

Not obscure enough - I have one to use with my 280mm/F4.8 Leitz Telyt lens.

Agreed it does make the 'converted' Leica a bit of dog to handle!

Long-time ex used to call me Fortescue, a reference to the Rev Charles Fortescue, the hapless Victorian era Michael Palin character in the film The Missionary who goes around saving fallen women ...

Anyway touring in France one year she started to riff a little on this and began calling me Montesquieu instead ... then low and behold we drove into the village of that name (was Gascony IIRC). So that's what stuck.
