Moving to Greece, I had to get a local mobile number. After wading through tons of paperwork I got my sim. Then I started getting calls for "Costas". I guess he had the number 'til recently. He also had a bank chasing him up pretty savagely so he might have been a victim of the crisis. No matter. I then discovered the custom of namedays here. So it was a simple leap to adopt Costas as my local name and celebrate on the 21st May. This requires the bringing to work of lots of cake or souvlaki, or both.
