Loading on Phonostage
As you may know, I have a new Rega Aria Phonostage. My question is about the dip-switches at the rear. For MC cartridges there are three settings that can be adjusted. I understand gain and the resistive loading but am having difficulty understanding capacitive loading in this context. Ortofon specify the required resistive loading but I can find no spec. for capacitive loading. The settings are 1000,2000,3200 and 4200pF. I've used the 1000pF setting which seems to be standard and on which I based my review.
Any explanation would be gratefully received. You would think that after over 50 years of playing with cartridges I'd know, but Ha Ho, proves I don't know everything
