Enjoy! You can never have a big enough telly.

I'm tempted by one of these:

    http://www.richersounds.com/product/...pana-txp50x60b

I remember when a decent 50 inch plasma was £5K

    Maybe after Crimble...
    Current Lash Up:

    TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > JM Labs Focal Electra 926.

Cant argue with a 5 year guarantee for £89 either.

Picking it up next Saturday. Hiring a van, delivery was £25 and with the time of year could be after new year before it comes.
Its the 60" version of this http://www.whathifi.com/review/samsung-ps51f5500

    Video review here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYYFPKSNmB8

Various forum opinion shows it as best bang for buck, so my kinda product.
That's why I posted the link as that's probably the best for under £1000, not as good as the top model Panasonic but less than a 1/3 of the price and with the 5 year warranty should last until OLED are more mature and affordable.

P.S. Remember to transport it upright in the van and strap it to something so it cant fall over on the way home.

Thanks for the link Mark, and the advice!
Took my last plasma home in my car so not taking any chances with this one.
Would get it delivered if it wasn't Chrimbo time, who knows when I'd get it.
Agree its the best under a grand and yup, you can get better (the Panny at three times the price), but I'm sure its not 3 times better.

    A bargain I think.
Well that's movie nights sorted then...

Got the 60" in last night, knew it would be bigger (obviously) than the 50" I had in before but i wasn't prepared for the jump in scale.
    Whoa..

Not spent a lot of time with it, set it up late last night but had a look at some of the Samsung apps and services built in.
Lots of 3D documentaries available, watched 10 mins of one about the Titanic and picture was great.
particularly noticed the black levels were a lot deeper and motion seemed a lot smoother, as though there were more frames being shown per second.

My last set wasnt 600Hz so it makes a good improvement.

Running low contrast/brightness settings for a while, couple of weeks maybe before I crank it up.
Noticed after even an hour or so of being switched on picture was improving, good stuff.

    Happy camper.

I'm just looking to buy a Smart TV Gary, got rid of my 42" Panny Plasma and don't have a TV right now, watching Netflix on my tablet which is great with headphones, but only good for one person and one of my mates likes to escape around my place to watch films with me, so he's keen for me to buy a TV - he has three woman and a dog at home.

Let me know what you think of the Sammy, I am impressed by the Smart Hub they have and as I don't intend buying a TV licence or watching broadcast TV, it seems Samsung has the best Smart/CatchUp TV/Streaming options available, so I'll be interested to hear your views on their GUI and the Smart Hub performance? Samsung is top of my list at the moment, but I won't be going to 60"!

One thing I would be interested to know about if possible, is plugging a USB hard drive directly into the TV USB ports and playing VOB file movie rips from the hard drive, which its supposed to be able to do?

How about some pictures too, as you know how nosey we all are
