Default Spikes or Squash balls for a 90mm Birchply plinth

My 301 is very very very nearly finished and I wonder which would be the better option spikes or squash balls?

You need to level the deck - that's tricky with squash balls alone.

Use a forstner bit to drill a hole the diameter as the the squash ball in to the base of the plinth to within 10mm of the surface. Fit an M12 threaded insert in to the top of the board concentric with the bored out hole. Turn a piece of M12 threaded bar to 40mm in length with flat ends and cut a slot across one face so a screwdriver wii fit. Now set the squash balls in to the bored holes and so their top surfaces bear agains the threaded rod. Now you can level the deck by adjusting the threaded rod and you still have the isolation of the squash balls.

.....if you have an adjustable shelf, simple squash ball supports are fine - such as my own solution: Wazoo's Klub Feet

....which is probably the cheapest and easiest way to do it - and done right, they can look great.
