Great to hear Geoff - love it when a plan comes together. That does look ace!

I'll shimmy over to the thread about it and have a read.

    Fettling for FR64s and TD-124

A regular customer of mine recently acquired a FR64s.
Unfortunately it was slightly damaged in transit - the lateral weight rod pulled out. This was threaded into a brass ferrule. Only 2mm at most the threads were damaged.
I made a new rod and securely attached it.
The lift arm radius (not original but a nice piece) also need a bit of attention as it was too high to be used with the intended headshell and cartridge - soon sorted.

The other thing was the desire to run the arm at a spindle to pivot distance of 231.5mm instead of the recommended 230mm.

Several owners have written about the benefits of 231.5mm. I run mine like that with my SPU Royal N.

At this distance the FR64s is right on the limit of what the TD-124 can manage. The large FR64s armbase nut is also large to accomodate.
With some careful enlarging of the plinth it fits nicely and does not foul the metalwork - essential to ensure arm / armboard / plinth acoustic relationship is kept right.

A very nice combination indeed with the right cartridge.

The customer reported "it's sounding the best it's ever sounded. More relaxed and open, more 3D... Definitely worth changing the distance (spindle to pivot), it seems to have made everything click in. Arm lift height is perfect now"

    Another job sorted.

Not really worth taking pics of that last one!

    The next one is worthy...

This one is bound for Singapore.

The brief was to make a armlift and rest holder to fit the lovely ATP-12t (a 10.5 inch arm), this time it had to be as short as possible to allow maximum range / travel of the arm tube slider weight.

Hewn and then fine milled out of 6mm plate Stainless Steel and then polished to match the arm / the chromed Jelco armlift that was was supplied to match.

Both the arm lift and rest are height adjustable the latter also position adjustable.

Shaped, tapped, polished and fitted out

    Testing with dummy armtube

The counterweight required to balance SPUs was 200g.

This was also made of Stainless Steel, shaped to match the original and polished. A thumbscrew was chosen instead of a grub screw

    Cutting the thumbscrew thread

Drilling the weight, a nylon inner damping sleeve will be fitted.

    Weight checked

    the finished article

A nice turning project in solid brass.
There are ~4.3" in diameter with a 2.160" 16 threads per inch thread to screw on to Vitavox 1.5" compression drivers. They would also fit similar Phillips drivers that are 1.378".

The finished articles - polished outer surface and countersinks for the M6 bolt heads

I can also make them in aluminium.

Busy in the workshop, I am making a series of adapters for a customer for various compression drivers of 1.378 and 1.5" throats to enable fitting to 2" throat horns.

Test fitting in my Vitavox S2 compression driver

Testing / listening with 400Hz tractrix horn on an S2

Special attention is paid to get the perfect driver to throat fit and smooth transition.

I have also made sets of these for 250Hz tractrix horns.

Here's a custom armboard for Ammonite Audio.
For a Kenwood KD-990 turntable that will be used at Whittlebury showcasing Jelco tonearms and collars.
    It'll be a 10" SA-750E going on the armboard / deck.

I look forward to pics of it from Whittelbury.

A custom extra heavy for the super Fidelity Research FR64s.

This one is a birthday present

Here it is test mounted on my FR64s

Makes the original alongside quite small!

Couple of turned 'top hats' for BobC / Vinyl Art.
M8 threaded bases. Highly polished top and top sides.
