    Hi Dave,

    I agree with what you say about some VDH cables being "Bland-N-Dull", as that's also been my experience, but not these cables - they are anything but!!

    Yes they're expensive; particularly as 'The Wind' is a single conductor cable, so you need to double up on each length per channel, making it just shy of £50 per metre, but the results are well worth it in my system.

    Quite frankly, these are the most musical, detailed and expressive sounding speaker cables I've heard, and knock the Belden pro stuff I had before (which was very good) into a cocked hat

    Turntable: Heavily-modified Technics SL-1210MK5G [Mike New bearing/ETP platter/Paul Hynes SR7 PSU & reg mods]. Funk Firm APM Achromat/Nagaoka GL-601 Crystal Record Weight/Isonoe feet & boots/Ortofon RS-212D/Denon DL-103GL in Denon PCL-300 headshell with Funk Firm Houdini/Kondo SL-115 pure-silver cartridge leads.

    Tape Deck: Tandberg TCD 310, fully restored and recalibrated as new, by RDE, plus upgraded with heads from the TCD-420a. Also with matching TM4 Norway microphones.

    Preamps: Heavily-modified Croft Charisma-X. LDR Stereo Coffee. Power Amps: Tube Distinctions Copper Amp fitted with Tungsol KT-150s. Quad 306.

    Cables & Sundries: Mark Grant HDX1 interconnects and digital coaxial cable, plus Mark Grant 6mm UP-LCOFC Van Damme speaker cable. MCRU 'Ultimate' mains leads. Lehmann clone headphone amp with vintage Koss PRO-4AAA headphones.

    Tube Distinctions digital noise filter. VPI HW16.5 record cleaning machine.

    Speakers: Tannoy 15MGs in Lockwood cabinets with modified crossovers. 1967 Celestion Ditton 15.

    Well I ordered some of the PTFE, Silver plated OFC 19/0.45 stuff from HiFi Collective and it's really good.

    Quite stiff obviously but nice to work with as the PTFE insulation strips cleanly, doesn't melt when you solder and it takes solder really well and makes a very nice joint.

    Everything is now ready for arrival next Friday of the new slate speaker cabs from John. :-)
