    I'm Steve.

    Default Damping materials for speakers.

Right chaps, in the course of discovering John at Slate Age, with his amazing rock-manipulation skills, I also came across another company who do some excellent materials for lining the internal panels of speakers.

    This is it:

It's a nice dense, but open cell profiled foam on a vibration damping base layer. Foam can be had in two densities (this is the heavier one, better bass-mid range absorbing properties) and the base layer in two thicknesses, either 2.5mm or 4.5mm - this is the 2.5mm stuff. As you can see, it's also self adhesive and cuts well with a sharp knife.

My slate cabs will be using this foam with the 4.5mm base layer to line the internal walls.

Also interesting that Jim at Sound Control Services ( www.soundcontrolservices.co.uk ) has got tech-spec sheets with lab test results for all his products which means you can pick and choose the most suitable product.

He will make up custom laminate panels from any of his products and in fact, made up the two sheets I wanted on the spot.

He can even supply thin, self-adhesive lead sheet!
