    I'm David.

You live in Essex and hifi dave is just south of Saffron Walden, if that's any help to you (01799 599080). He's been a Rega dealer since the mid 70's at least, so should be able to assist.

The motor is supposed to look a bit 'sick' in its mounting and the pulley leaning forwards is normal for many of this era. I don't know if they still do the fixed motor conversion, or whether you have to go further with the 24V update, but fixing the motor (new motor, supply board which is totally different and an adhesive disc) in place does help speed stability no end and the new supply board aids in significantly reducing motor noise, now allowing the thing to be properly attached, rather than floating around on an o-ring!

If Dave is allowed to check it over for you, he can check the main bearing for lube and tightness, as well as the arm..

I'm not shilling Dave here, but ANY of the longer established Rega dealers should be able to do this for you. My local Rega dealer is Signals in Bucklesham (Ipswich) and I'm sure Alastair would also be extremely helpful. He hasn't 'done' Rega for very long though, so unlike Dave and I, didn't have to fight the sometimes tricky flexible motor mounting arrangements, coupled with new belts wandering up and down the driving hub on brand new decks, which were bounced around all over in transit to the dealer.....

    Good luck
