I think I am (not) finished...or Zeppelin to Sinatra & Back
Finally got the ferrograph out for a test etc. Has some issues with the left channel in stereo mode. Seems fine in mono. Lower level, and occasional slowish increase then fades a bit. Mono has a huge increase in volume so something is going on. Id expect some increase but not that much.
Looking at cabinet under the big strong light i see its not patina, but someone has tried to restain it badly. Thats no problem and will get sorted. Just have to decide on colour.....anyone know if other colours were ever used?
Will need to get a diagram off the engine, although i think i might actually have one somewhere
Will say, it sounded very good. Maybe after fettling will be a great amp to have.

I had one with a rich teak sort of coloured case and one with an almost walnut colour. They were original and hadn't been restained.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

Mmm, walnut ... sounds better than this inbetween teak and pine i think. Think i remember a black one too, or very dark. Might have been dark walnut. Amp looks like it will pop out of case easily enough. Knobs seem to have grubs...maybe hex? Fiund a diagram fir mk2.. not sure if its a mk1 or2 tbh. Dont think there was a lot of difference. Something internal if memory serves

I have seen the occasional F307 with a white case. Whether that was an option or done afterwards by an owner I don't know. But it looked very good and set off the colour of the front panel rather well.
