Super pair of Ruark Templar speakers have been added to the Meridian 206/Quad 306/34 combination and some CableTalk 3 bi-wire is in the post... just one last (simple) question... the Templar's came without spikes, so can anybody confirm if they 6mm threaded spikes?

You have some decently revealing components now. Unfortunately the 34 pre-amp is not one of them. I've heard this unit and feel your 206 and 306 deserve better. The little 306 is a musical little power amp and I think it would give you very nice results with a valve pre-amp. I reckon that combination would get your Templars singing.

I'd think something from Croft may suit. The Quad 306 is used by a few AOS members and they may have experience of pairing it with suitable non Quad pre-amps. Personally I have a feeling that the EAR 834L would sound fantastic with the 306, but the 834L are getting harder to find second hand and are rapidly going up in price.

Thanks again Geoff... I think that the EAR 834L might be out a little too expensive for my budget... but what about a Croft Acoustics Micro 25?

I think I may wait until I have enough pennies for the Croft Micro 25, the next step up from the Basic...
