    I've never knowingly heard one of these but I understand they're quite sought after (especially a 'proper' urei one, they're one of those brands that's been passed around a fair bit!)

    I'd love it if the cost of the solution was £10 but I'm very sceptical that something like that would murder the sound quality. I vaguely remember trying a cheap switch a few years back (for some other reason) and it ruined the sound

    You are very welcome David, the Rane RIAAs are no slouches either, as bundled units they sound as good as most stand alone RIAAs, although they do lack a little in sensitivity, but this is obviated by careful use of the gain controls on the mixer. If you click on my homepage you should find some pix of it in use.
