Not really car related, but here are two amazing two stroke diesel engines from the past which I thought might be of interest.
The supercharged Commer 'Knocker' lorry engine, with three cylinders and six opposing pistons. These have a sound all of their own.
The supercharged Napier 'Deltic' rail locomotive engine, with six rows of three cylinders with opposing pistons built in triangles, giving 18 cylinders and 36 pistons. Incredible!
The Commer and Napier were very powerful for their size and their time and even by modern standards.
Variants of each were produced with differing numbers of cylinder rows and both types were used in other applications including marine use.

A nice day out in the car..........Not!

Another treat. The BRM 'H' 16 Formula One engine from the sixties.
Again, Amazing! Basically two flat-eight engines joined together.

The five cylinder Honda 125cc grand prix race bike. Again, from the sixties. If I recall, this had a top speed approaching 150mph.

Nice looking thing, although I'm not sure I'd want to be going 150mph on it...
At that speed, 'death trap' springs to mind!
Marco.
