Talking of fast estate cars as we were, does anyone remember the bonkers TWR Volvo T5 BTCC cars from the early 90's?

They then changed the rules to stop those estates from competing.

Almost. The best fun you can have with your clothes on is aerobatics in a small agile plane. Done that a few times (not me at the controls though). Amazing fun!!
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

I've had the privilege to know a couple of RAF Harrier pilots. Both drove Volvo estates, and never had any desire to drive anything quicker. Didn't seem much point!

Just don't get suckered into taking on a Saab 9-5 estate diesel. Some of them have been tuned to 400BHP, but look as docile as a turtle.

If you are having your car tuned up, consider adding LSD (limited slip differential), bigger brakes, and wider tires. I had to do all of that after I had my engine tuned up.

All that power through the front wheels will give you some interesting tramlining and torque steer.

    Default Something completely different

Been watching this thread and some great cars so far, but it’s been getting far too serious and the OP did say "anything". So, this is what you buy when your knees don’t bend quite so easily and you have to sell your motorbikes.

    It’sgotnopowersteeringnoairbagsnoairconditioningno satnavnoantilockbrakesnotractioncontrolnorainsensi ngwipersnotripcomputernolowwasherfluidwarninglampa ndnolittlelightthingytotellyouwhenitneedsaservice. .......

........but it does have a 4.0L Tornado chipped V8, weighs 970kg and would probably make you smile even on a very dull day.

Goes faster than a meat pie in a health farm until you reach the corners and then it’s NIGHTMARE TIME unless you’re ready for it. Full concentration is mandatory and a combination of steering wheel and right foot gets you round most corners: sweat, fear and brute strength gets you round the rest. Suspension and technology is generally on a level with a Sopwith Camel – and no, the chassis isn’t made of wood (you’re thinking of the brakes).

Strangely though, I love it to bits................... (but definitely a Marmite car).
