    Thumbs up Texaco Supreme Diesel

For those of you with performance diesel cars, who like to experiment with 'premium fuels'...

Just a heads-up to report that I gave Texaco's version of premium diesel, their 'Supreme', and having used it exclusively now for a few weeks, I reckon it's better than either of the main options, Shell V-Power or BP Ultimate. In the Brabster, it gives more 'poke' and the engine seems to run quieter and more smoothly.

If you're curious, maybe give it a go, if you've got a Texaco station near you!

That won't work well in my high performance car.

Ha - 'girly petrols' don't count!

The unleaded version might 'work'. Not seen many Texaco stations around though, whenever I've been in France...

Very interesting Marco, thanks for the heads up. I always use premium fuels as I find the car much smoother to drive and with an improved throttle response. Shell pulled out of Northern Ireland about 8 years ago so have been using BP Ultimate but this Texaco stuff now gives me another option. Filled up on Vpower when I was over for NEBO earlier in the year and thought it was better than Ultimate.
Will try the Supreme on next fill and report back. Might be a while as I'm car sharing with 3 other guys so weekly mileage is well down!

No worries, John. Just keep us posted

Respect on the car sharing thing, btw. More folks should be doing that!

    Lol... I'll invoice you later!

Car sharing, however, is good for the environment. I'm all for it. Too many cars on the road now, with only the driver inside.

There is nothing "girly" about my car compared to a Merc.
I see you have added the word "diesel" to your original post.

I normally fill up at the Total garages, and don't use "premium" unleaded as the car was mapped on SP95.

Yes, when I'm in France I like to use Total Exellium diesel, as the car runs well on it. The "girly" comment was tongue-in-cheek.

I just love the mentalist torque that big turbo diesels produce, which like for like (engine size), petrols just don't do, although they do some other things better. At the end of the day, car engines are a compromise just like anything else!

How do you map a car's engine to perform optimally with a specific fuel? I'm genuinely interested

Fill the tank with the fuel you are going to use, and perform the rolling road session with it.
The MAP will then be optimised for use on that fuel.
